Princess Maja von Hohenzollern / World Bank / PEFA – Public Financial Management, Accountability & Governance
World Bank / PEFA – Public Financial Management, Accountability & Governance
World Bank Open Learning Campus / PEFA
Lifelong learning also means looking beyond the boundaries of one’s own professional experience and continuously exploring new perspectives. For Maja Prinzessin von Hohenzollern, this has always been an important part of entrepreneurship and responsible leadership.
In September 2026, she successfully completed the certificate course **“Introduction to Public Expenditure and Financial Accountability (PEFA)”** through the **World Bank Open Learning Campus / PEFA**, achieving an overall score of **100/100**.
PEFA stands for Public Expenditure and Financial Accountability and is an internationally established framework for assessing the performance of Public Financial Management (PFM) systems.
The PEFA Framework is regarded internationally as a gold standard for assessing PFM performance, providing a systematic and evidence-based approach to identifying the strengths and weaknesses of public financial systems.
The framework comprises 7 pillars, 31 performance indicators and 94 dimensions. It addresses areas including budget reliability, transparency of public finances, management of assets and liabilities, policy-based fiscal strategy and budgeting, predictability and control in budget execution, accounting and reporting, as well as external scrutiny and audit.
Beside the PEFA Framework, its assessment methodology and the practical process of conducting a PEFA assessment are part of the programm. Topics included the analysis of public financial systems, financial transparency and accountability, budget analysis, standardised performance assessment, control mechanisms and the evidence-based identification and monitoring of reform measures.
For Princess Maja von Hohenzollern, however, the value of this programme extends beyond the field of public financial management. As an international entrepreneur and board member of a foundation, she is particularly interested in **which principles and insights from international governance and accountability frameworks can also inform the leadership of companies, NGOs and foundations.
Financial transparency, responsible stewardship of resources, effective control mechanisms, accountability, risk assessment and evidence-based decision-making are important elements of responsible leadership in these organisations as well. The PEFA Framework itself is designed for public financial management and is not directly transferable to companies or NGOs, however, its underlying principles can provide valuable perspectives for governance and responsible organisational leadership.
The programme therefore adds another international perspective to Princess Maja von Hohenzollern’s work and continuing education in **Responsible Business, Governance, Ethics and responsible leadership**.
Because responsible leadership is not only about making decisions , it is also about being transparent and accountable for their consequences and for the responsible use of entrusted resources.

Princess Maja von Hohenzollern completed the programme with a score of **81.43 out of 84 points – approximately 97%**.
The programme complements her long-standing international entrepreneurial experience and her strategic work at the intersection of **innovation, Responsible AI, Responsible Business, Intellectual Property and Governance**.

Princess Maja von Hohenzollern Keynote at the European Women Business Summit 2026
Keynote at the European Women Business Summit 2026
Princess Maja von Hohenzollern joined the **European Women Business Summit** as a keynote speaker on 28 July 2026.
Her keynote,
“Beyond the Obvious™ – Why the Most Successful Companies Don’t Compete, They Become Unmistakable”
focused on one central question: How can companies build lasting competitive advantages in an increasingly comparable and rapidly changing business environment?
Drawing on more than 25 years of international entrepreneurial experience, Princess Maja von Hohenzollern explored why sustainable business success is not achieved simply by continuously improving products and services or constantly benchmarking against competitors.
Instead, she encouraged business leaders to look beyond the obvious, connect different perspectives and develop a distinctive strategic position of their own.
The keynote addressed key areas including **innovation, Intellectual Property, strategic differentiation, Responsible Business, Responsible AI and Governance**, and explored how companies can translate these into long-term competitive advantages that are difficult to replicate.
During the keynote, Princess Maja von Hohenzollern introduced her strategic leadership philosophy **Beyond the Obvious**. Her approach combines entrepreneurial experience with interdisciplinary thinking and the ability to identify connections early, recognise emerging opportunities and turn them into distinctive strategic options.
One of the central messages of the keynote was:
“If you are interchangeable, you compete on price. If you are unique, people buy because of the value you create.”
The European Women Business Summit brings together entrepreneurs, executives, experts and decision-makers, providing a platform for dialogue on entrepreneurship, leadership, the future of business and social responsibility.

Princess Maja von Hohenzollern / OECD Academy – Responsible Business Conduct & Due Diligence
OECD Academy – Responsible Business Conduct & Due Diligence
“You never stop learning” – lifelong learning has always been an important part of Princess Maja von Hohenzollern’s approach to entrepreneurship.** In a business environment where regulatory, societal and technological conditions are changing at an ever-increasing pace, responsible leadership also means continuously developing one’s knowledge and perspective.
Princess Maja von Hohenzollern successfully completed the OECD e-learning training **“The Essentials of Due Diligence for Responsible Business Conduct.”** (Score 97/100)
The programme focused on how responsible business conduct and **risk-based due diligence** can be systematically integrated into corporate strategies, management systems and international business relationships.
Responsible Business Conduct covers a broad range of key **ESG and governance issues** – from human rights, employment and responsible supply and value chains to environmental and climate considerations, corporate governance, transparency, integrity, anti-corruption, consumer interests and the responsible use of technology and innovation.
A particular focus was placed on the OECD’s due diligence approach: companies should identify and assess actual and potential adverse impacts associated with their operations and business relationships, take appropriate measures to prevent and mitigate them, track implementation and results, communicate transparently about how impacts are addressed and, where appropriate, provide for or cooperate in remediation.
For Princess Maja von Hohenzollern, this programme is closely connected to her long-standing entrepreneurial practice. Sustainability, vegan and cruelty-free product development, international supply chains and responsible business decisions have been integral to her work for many years.
**Ethics plays a central role in this approach.** For her, responsible business does not begin and end with legal compliance. It also requires asking what impact business decisions have on people, animals, the environment and society – and taking responsibility for those consequences.
This perspective also forms part of her strategic leadership philosophy Beyond the Obvious in which ethics is not viewed in isolation, but connected with innovation, Responsible Business, Governance, Intellectual Property and Responsible AI.
Today, she combines this extensive practical experience with current international standards and strategic future-oriented topics including **Responsible Business, Governance, Intellectual Property and Responsible AI.
Because responsible business is not simply about complying with legal requirements. It is also about considering the wider consequences of business decisions for people, the environment and society.

Princess Maja von Hohenzollern wins PETA VEGAN AWARD – Best Vegan Toy 2025
Stamp Stories: The World’s First Stamp Story!Designer Maja Princess of Hohenzollern has been awarded the PETA VEGAN AWARD 2025 in the category of "Best Vegan Toy."Maja Princess von Hohenzollern has created Stamp Stories, the world’s first stamp fairy tale, and a completely new concept that combines creativity with environmental protection. She personally wrote the story
"Princess Maja and Max Save the Sea Animals!" and illustrated 6 charming stamp designs for it. The story tells how Princess Maja and Max, while walking along the beach, encounter a turtle whose head is trapped in a plastic bag. Together, they discover more animals trapped in waste and free them all.
To make the story interactive, Maja Princess of Hohenzollern designed a stamp fairy tale book. Children can read the story and stamp the matching designs, as well as color them in. As an added benefit, the finished stamp fairy tale book can also be read aloud as a bedtime story.
In addition, the story will be released as an audiobook in various languages internationally.
